At Independent Goldsmiths, our three jewelers have 60 plus years combined jewelry making experience. Our big specialty is jewelry repair and restyling. Our jewelers' experience runs the spectrum from custom designing rings and jewelry to stone setting, mold making, and manufacturing of jewelry. Angel Cressy is an experienced, organized office manager who has worked in a variety of industries. Angel is a company co-founder and she joined the team full-time in 2002. In addition to her many duties as office manager, she also assists with some of the repair work and customer service.

Chuck Cressy is a proficient jeweler and entrepreneur who has been working in the jewelry industry in Rapid City for over 20 years. Chuck is the company founder and has been an Independent Goldsmith since 1999.

Brent Gamroth is an experienced, motivated jeweler. He joined the team in 2003 and is also a company shareholder. Brent has attained a business degree at Black Hills State University and is a valued asset to our company and our guests.

Rick Hill is an accomplished jeweler and certified diamondologist who has been working as a retail goldsmith for over 22 years. Rick has owned/co-owned two jewelry stores, Hill’s Diamonds in Rapid City and R&V Jewelers in Sturgis. He joined our team in July of 2008 and has quickly become a great asset for our business and our guests.

Our company began in 1999 as a B2B jewelry repair service. We’ve handled all the jewelry repair work for as many as 14 jewelry stores in four states. It is safe to say that we have completed literally tens of thousands, or more, jewelry repairs. Opening our retail store has enabled us to bring our professional jewelry services directly to the jewelry repair customer, and we take great pride in providing quality service at a reasonable price.

We currently have 4 knowledgeable and experienced staff members that use their expertise to assist our guests with making informed decisions on their jewelry purchases, jewelry restyling options, and jewelry repair.
